Perception

We have a fortnightly quote that is placed up above the small noticeboard, which is placed above the phone at our house. It's right near a main thoroughfare, so an ideal spot to be easily viewed by all who pass by

We now have 2 sons left at home and a number of boarders from C3 (Christian City Church), Oxford Falls, which is only a few minutes down the road, and with a house full of such people with a heart after God, we ask one of them to put up a quote of the fortnight – something that has stirred their heart.
Most of the quotes have indeed been excellent and encouraging.
I saw that Becca Banyard (daughter of good friends of ours), had written her first quote and left it on the table. As I read it, I was somewhat startled as the words impacted me again, just as much as they had when I first read them “I don't need to punish people for sin. Sin is its own punishment devouring you from the inside. It's not my purpose to punish it, its my joy to cure it” – Papa from The Shack.
I read it again and went off to work that day, with those words ringing in my ears. Holy Spirit spoke to me on the way there “Its about perception Chris, about how you perceive me”.
I meditated on that a bit and saw again that it isn’t about a God who is angry with sin, wanting to punish; but a God who is joy, a God who is love - who wants simply to bring release from the effects of sin, because He loves me, my Papa.
It is indeed about perception
